Members Ratify Contract Changes
82% of those Voting Support Proposed Agreement
By a vote of 5,851 to 1,258, MCEA members overwhelming agreed that to preserve jobs and class size, adjustments had to be made to the existing contract. The general economic downturn coupled with the local, growing budget deficit resulted in a request by the school board last month to renegotiate the final year of the current three year contract. State Error Reveals Mont. Co. Shortchanged $24 Million
It seemed like great news when Maryland’s governor announced that Montgomery County was owed approximately $24 million as a result of an error in the state budget office. The news has gotten ‘less great’ as he said it might not be available until after June 30.Learn more
