Teachers agreeingDespite eight weeks away from school (although, for some, not necessarily away from work), today’s pressing issues seem to be the very same ones we addressed last spring. The recession continues – with serious implications for both bargaining and the school board’s budget – and new policies and procedures have been developed to address any potential outbreaks of swine flu in county schools. Both county and state budget issues remain murky with little encouraging news. The state is actually approving increased furloughs for state employees and cuts in aid to the counties on Wednesday Learn more

Preparing for the Flu

And finally, swine flu (H1N1) is expected to hit hard again this coming year. The good news is that it still appears to be significantly less fatal than the seasonal flu. The bad news is the medical community predicts that tens of millions of Americans – mainly children – may get it. Learn more

Decorating for High School
(grades 9-12)

There seem to be fewer educational posters geared towards high school students. There is nothing worse than a student recognizing a poster, worksheet game, etc. that is intended for use in a middle school classroom but has been used in his/her high school instead. Learn more

Seating in the Shape of E
(grades 1-5)

Looking for a new seating strategy? Try using the ‘E’ strategy. If you like most students to face the front of the class, try arranging desks in the shape of the letter ‘E’. Learn more
