Bargaining for Next Contract to Begin


Teachers agreeingMonday, November 2 will mark the first session of bargaining between MCEA and MCPS. Negotiating a new contract is not expected to be an easy task, given the backdrop of a barely recovering economy, a year without COLAs, and a strong demand to address time and workload issues -- which is yet to be fully understood by the MCPS administration.

MCEA members have shown a great deal of reason, having chosen to forgo cost-of-living raises and avoid layoffs for this year. Unfortunately, while pocketbooks are feeling less substantial, so too is planning time to insure quality instruction. Learn more

'Sticker Day Scheduled

State Climate Survey Results Released 

The Governor’s Office has announced release of the survey data from last spring’s TELL Survey. MCEA members may recall this first-of-its-kind statewide survey of classroom teachers about school climate. Statewide, more than 43,000 teachers completed the survey.
